OK, so I haven't been feeling very bloggy lately. It sucks because I love blogging, it's just that I have been feeling very unorganized here at home and I have been blaming it on my addiction to my computer.
Facebook, email, blogs, shopping, music, pictures you name it. I could (and do) get on the computer only to look up a couple of hours later and wonder where the time went. It's quite ridiculous actually and this last week I was a little fed up.
Anyway, before I get to my Tasty Tuesday post today, I wanted to update on the status of my hand. Not that you care, but it makes me feel good that you might, just a little. :)
So I am a total idiot! Remember that comedian, who did the whole " Here's your sign" thing. What was his name? Oh yeah, Bill Engvall. Sometimes I think, "it's almost like he knew me".
My hand was healing nicely, looking really good, and then (of course) I was in charge of the care and maintenance of it so it couldn't stay healthy for long. On Saturday the hubby and I went out with some friends and I decided not to wrap my hand. "Just let it breathe" my hubby told me, "It'll be fine." Yeah.... It wasn't.
The burn had blistered up last week and most of the blisters went down by themselves and just left the protective skin over the burn to help it heal. It looked really good. So we drop the kiddos off for a sleepover and go out. I get a little, well, lets just call it "happy". Just a little. We are dancing at the club, having a great time, and some guy runs right into my hand! Rips that protective skin clean off! I felt like I got burned all over again!!! I went in the bathroom to wash it of, but I was having such a great time, that beyond that I really didn't care much.
We got home, cleaned it out, wrapped it up, and called it a night. We did the same thing on Sunday, but by yesterday, it was inflamed, throbbing, and red all around. I went to the doctor, where I was informed that it was an infected, deep, second degree burn. Not a third as I had thought. Because, had it been a third degree burn, I would have burned the nerves and been in no pain. Which is good, I guess. So now I have to clean it (which is a painful chore) and wrap it up with a special antibiotic burn cream and take a full course of antibiotics for 10 days.
Let this be a lesson... DO NOT go out to a dirty club with an open wound.
Christie.... Here's your sign!!

UPDATE: YEP! DID IT AGAIN!!!
Seriously guys! What was it…two weeks ago that I burned my arm with bacon grease? Well disaster struck again, this time in the shape of a pot roast!
Allow me to explain….
Yesterday morning I took a roast out of the freezer to make for dinner. I love to cook and I have to say, I make a seriously yummy roast beef. Anyhoo, it was a big roast, and frozen, so I tried a couple of methods to defrost it. Hot water, microwave, you know. I cook my roast all day ‘til it falls apart, so I really needed to get a jump on searing it and getting it started. Finally the thing is like partly thawed and I am like, whatever, it’ll be enough to sear it. So I season it up, get the pot way hot and set about searing my roast. When I felt I had a pretty good sear on the one side I decided to flip it.
That’s when disaster struck!
You see, because the roast was only partially thawed, quite a bit of boiling water that had melted off the top was built up boiling like crazy with bits of seared meat in the bottom. I could not see it because, genius that I am, I had decided to use the same pot to sear it that I normally cook it in and it’s rather tall. So I stick my fork in, lift the roast, flip it and…..
BAM!!!! Boiling exploding water & seared beef bits everywhere!
I yelped and made a dash for the sink because my hand was on fire. Once I got the cold water on my hand I could feel little burns everywhere. On my other arm, on my shoulder, and…this is great…on top of my head.
My husband, sweetheart that he is, after deciding that I am okay, has himself a good chuckle.

Because as we all know, I am no stranger to kitchen disasters.
Here is my poor hand as it looks tonight. Pretty, huh?
I have a few minor burns elsewhere on my body and on the wrist of this hand but this is the main one. OUCH!!
And here is my new fashion accessory for the next few days so that we can hopefully prevent my blisters on my hand and wrist from popping. My husband hopes that this is the worst my accidents get.
While it’s total comedy and entertainment, he worries because it has been progressively getting worse.
My daughter who was sitting at the table in the kitchen at the time, didn’t even flinch.
My son simply asked “Mommy, did you hurt yourself again.”
I just don't know what I am going to do with myself!!
UPDATE: Okay, so of course I am no doctor. Could you imagine that? Me, Mrs. Total Disaster with a medical degree. Sounds like some sort of horror movie! Anyway, according to Web MD which is a site that I visit quite often, (shocker, huh?) I gave myself 3rd degree burns yesterday!
From the site:
The burn is white, cherry red, or black. (Check! Cherry red and white in the center)
The burns do not change color when pushed on. They do not blanch. (Check! Check!)
The burn is hard, dry, and leathery looking (Check and check!)
Which leaves me hoping as my husband does that these cute little mishaps of mine don't get any worse!

I did it again!
Why am I so ridiculously clumsy?
I burned myself yet again!!
Those of you that know me, including my hubby are all like "Ohh, Christie. That is so you!" With a cute little tip of your head and a sympathetic look on your face.
Well I am done! I am a hazard to myself. I can barely walk anymore without getting hurt!
(OK that was a bit dramatic.)
This morning's culprit: Bacon grease on my arm. Hurts like a mutha too!
Other famous escapades of mine:
Burning a good chunk of my forearm on the oven door Thanksgiving Day after having a bit too much to drink.
Jumping the last couple of stairs to the basement, forgetting the ceiling was low and cracking my head in the process. (Did I think I was 6 again? Who knows!)
One time, I went to run up the stairs because I could hear that our puppy getting into the kitchen trash. I whipped around and took off at full speed only to be stopped by the door jam at the bottom of the stairs! I was bruised for a month!
Wrecking not once, but twice on my four wheeler to the point where I am now scared to death on them!
I can't possibly begin tell you how many times I have slammed various appendages in things because it happens way too often.
So, family and friends, if you know of any of my adventures that are too funny to leave out, let me know. I usually get a good laugh out of them myself. :)
