OK, so I haven't been feeling very bloggy lately. It sucks because I love blogging, it's just that I have been feeling very unorganized here at home and I have been blaming it on my addiction to my computer.
Facebook, email, blogs, shopping, music, pictures you name it. I could (and do) get on the computer only to look up a couple of hours later and wonder where the time went. It's quite ridiculous actually and this last week I was a little fed up.
Anyway, before I get to my Tasty Tuesday post today, I wanted to update on the status of my hand. Not that you care, but it makes me feel good that you might, just a little. :)
So I am a total idiot! Remember that comedian, who did the whole " Here's your sign" thing. What was his name? Oh yeah, Bill Engvall. Sometimes I think, "it's almost like he knew me".
My hand was healing nicely, looking really good, and then (of course) I was in charge of the care and maintenance of it so it couldn't stay healthy for long. On Saturday the hubby and I went out with some friends and I decided not to wrap my hand. "Just let it breathe" my hubby told me, "It'll be fine." Yeah.... It wasn't.
The burn had blistered up last week and most of the blisters went down by themselves and just left the protective skin over the burn to help it heal. It looked really good. So we drop the kiddos off for a sleepover and go out. I get a little, well, lets just call it "happy". Just a little. We are dancing at the club, having a great time, and some guy runs right into my hand! Rips that protective skin clean off! I felt like I got burned all over again!!! I went in the bathroom to wash it of, but I was having such a great time, that beyond that I really didn't care much.
We got home, cleaned it out, wrapped it up, and called it a night. We did the same thing on Sunday, but by yesterday, it was inflamed, throbbing, and red all around. I went to the doctor, where I was informed that it was an infected, deep, second degree burn. Not a third as I had thought. Because, had it been a third degree burn, I would have burned the nerves and been in no pain. Which is good, I guess. So now I have to clean it (which is a painful chore) and wrap it up with a special antibiotic burn cream and take a full course of antibiotics for 10 days.
Let this be a lesson... DO NOT go out to a dirty club with an open wound.
Christie.... Here's your sign!!
